Sleeping naked has tons of health benefits, but only 8% of Americans sleep sans clothes. Most people don't know that sleeping naked is good for you. We're here to let you in on a dirty little secret: There are actual scientific reasons why sleeping naked is better for you.

1. Your sleep will improve

Your body temperature naturally declines as part of your circadian rhythm, and wearing pajamas could disrupt this natural drop in temperature, which then could disrupt your body's sleep cycle. Being too hot can also lead to restlessness and insomnia.

2. It's good for your lady parts

Underwear can be a breeding ground for infection-causing bacteria. Ditching the underwear will allow your vagina to air out and stay clean and healthy.

3. Your skin and hair will grow

Being too warm at night disrupts the release of melatonin and growth hormone - the two main anti-aging hormones. Wearing your birthday suit to bed helps you cool down, and as your body temperature drops, growth hormone is released and works it's magic.

4. You'll eat better

The stress hormone cortisol decreases while you sleep. However, if your sleep is interrupted from tossing and turning due to uncomfortable pajamas or overheating, your body will produce more cortisol than usual. Excess cortisol is known to intensify your appetite: hello stress eating!

5. It burns calories

Sleeping naked may help you lose weight. Apparently keeping yourself cool while you sleep speeds the body's metabolism. Your body also creates more brown fat to keep you warm, and brown fat produces heat by burning calories. Aside from burning calories, sleeping in the buff can make you buff, thanks to the release of the muscle-building human growth hormone.

6. It builds confidence

Stripping it down makes you more comfortable in your own skin. As you get more comfortable with your body, your self-esteem and confidence increase.

7. Two words: More Sex

Skin to skin contact helps increase the feel-good chemicals in your body, like oxytocin. You'll feel closer to your partner and more often in the mood for sex. Naked spooning encourages sex and leads to happier relationships!

We realize that sleeping in the nude isn't for everyone so If you are Team PJs, opt for something light and airy to keep you cool.
