This summer has been hotter than usual (scientists say the hottest on record). For years, turning on fans or cranking up air conditioning have been the only sources of respite during sweltering summer days….and nights.

This means people see big spikes in their electricity bills, but it also means they may still struggle to sleep and experience night sweating & wake ups. In comes the Pod. The Pod can be added to any bed (like a fitted sheet) and improves your sleep through intelligent temperature adjustments. It cools as low as 55º F (12.8º C) and each side of the bed can be adjusted to different temperatures. The Pod reduces the temperature of your bed surface directly, which is a more effective way to cool down your body than air conditioning – helping you improve your sleep and reduce your energy bill.

Because contact heat transfer is much more efficient than using air, you can rely on your Pod for thermal comfort and dial back your thermostat to save on your electricity bill – whether you are cooling or heating your bed. Here’s an example:

  • If you use the Pod to cool down your bed, you could increase your A/C temperature setting by 5º F (2.7º C) while sleeping

  • This would save your A/C 2,100 BTU/hr for 8 hours. – Note most central A/Cs are 20,000 to 50,000 BTUs, so this is a conservative savings estimate.

  • If you assume a cost of $0.15/kWh, this means you can save at least $15/month on electricity costs.

  • This calculation already accounts for the Pod's power usage, so the $15/month are a net saving.

In addition to the Pod bearing some of the brunt of your AC unit’s cooling, it’s also more efficient, using a lower wattage at its maximum setting. We’re talking ~300W vs. ~800W.

The best way to stay cool during hot summer nights and improve your sleep is clear: the Pod’s advanced cooling technology, that will drop your bed surface as low as 55º F (12.8º C). This cools your body down more efficiently, allowing you to increase your AC’s temperature and save on your energy bill: by at least $15/month.
